Timing your order
Willows are cut when dormant (ie leafless), roughly between November and March. It is possible to buy dried or dried and peeled (buff) willow at other times of the year. There are no suppliers of buff willow in Scotland, but Kate Sankey (listed below) supplies dried willow (Flanders Red).
Glossary
Rod – full-length willow stem (usually specified as 2 or 3m, which means approx average length)
Bundle – rods are often sold in bundles of approx 30 rods
Cutting (or slip) – cut piece of willow stem for immediate planting (usually about 30cm long)
